Conference on Smart Sustainable Cities in Vietnam and Official Opening Ceremony. Hanoi, 8th May, 20
The urbanization process in Vietnam is taking place intensively. Currently there are around 770 cities and towns and 35% of total population in Vietnam compared to 500 cities and towns and 25% of population. Urbanization is creating significant pressures and negative impacts on environment, infrastructure and sustainable development. In the context of urban-societal needs we will form an integral approach to obtain sustainable cities. Involved are national, regional and especially municipal governments, whose important role in setting a vision for sustainable cities was appointed already in Rio 20+. The shared vision on sustainable cities between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and authorities is essential in SAUNAC project. The participating organizations will learn from each other’s approaches and HEIs learn to work together on societal challenges in the new cultural environment with innovative approaches. We will apply innovative teaching and learning methods, such as creative- and blended learning, which is encouraged also in the Erasmus+ Field Specific Priorities “to modernise higher education in less developed parts of the world”.
The objective of SSVC conference is to raise awareness about the topic of Smart Sustainable Cities in Vietnam. The conference also aims at bringing relevant parties, such as universities, governments and business together.
The conference is co-organized by the National University of Civil Engineering, Vietnam (NUCE) and Stichting Hogeschool Utrecht, Netherland (HU).
